NOAA's national marine sanctuary offices and visitor centers are currently closed to the public, and in accordance with Executive Order 13991 - Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask Wearing, all individuals in NOAA-managed areas are required to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance on mask-wearing and maintaining social distances. Sanctuary waters remain open for responsible use in accordance with CDC guidance, U.S. Coast Guard requirements, and local regulations. 2011 Marine Art Contest

There were 737 entries this year from more than 40 schools, two afterschool programs and several homeschooled students – and many outstanding creations. The judges included professional artist Sandra Faxon, professional graphic designer and artist Dennis Huston, naturalist/educator/TIME Magazine Hero of the Planet Richard Wheeler, members of the MME Board of Directors and staff at Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. Winning artwork and many of the honorable mentions will be framed and become part of a traveling exhibit that will tour public venues during the summer and throughout the 2011-2012 school year.
